Ok, so maybe it's not quite Thanksgiving yet, but that doesn't mean the holiday season isn't fast approaching. It's a time of year where you deal with way too scramble to shop for all your friends and loved ones, but also get to (hopefully) enjoy their company and celebrate the spirit of the holiday season together. In a city like Annapolis, there's no shortage of great holiday events you can enjoy with company like family and friends throughout the season. Here are a few that are sure to be great.
Holiday Market at the Anne Arundel County Farmers' Market - If you thought farmers markets were only for the warmer months, think again. This weekly winter market boasts a wide assortment of produce, local crafts, baked goods, candy, and more. Every Saturday from 7 a.m. till noon through December 24th.
Lights on the Bay - Drive alongside Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park and marvel at numerous, roadside light exhibits. This annual attractions boasts classic light displays as well as new ones this year including Dino-lights, Winter Fairy Tale, Teddy Bear, and Maryland-themed exhibits. Open now through January 1st, 2012.
Grand Illumination - This annual tree lighting ceremony is a historic Downtown Annapolis tradition. Head to the city dock, enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and cider, and watch as the mayor lights the enormous tree to kick off the holiday season on November 27.
A Celebration of Christmas Concert - The perfect event for any classical music lover in Annapolis. Head to the Maryland Center for the Creative Arts on November 8th and enjoy a concert featuring Annapolis Chorale, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Annapolis Youth Chorus performing a number of holiday classics.
Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade - While most typically expect parades to be on land, this one takes a different approach. Watch as dozens of illuminated boats traverse the Annapolis Harbor in a magnificent display of lights and revelry. Watch from the Spa Creek Bridge or any waterside location around the harbor.
